The Republican Narrative

The narrative being used by the Republicans is simply to say that President Obama screwed up the economy, is not experienced enough and that every decision he has made was wrong. The economy they say is in a shambles because of him and a new leader must be elected to repair the damage he has done. This is raw meat for Obama haters and flies in the face of truth. Let's forget the 22 consecutive months of private sector job creation or the turnaround growth we are seeing, or a consumer confidence rating on the rise, or the small business survey released yesterday citing demand for small business loans at the highest rates in three years with banks lending. Let's forget the Republican House not accepting the job proposals for infrastructure repair as asked for by the President. Let's forget the intransigence the President has faced. Let's put all this aside for a moment and what you get is the Republican narrative of Fantasyland. Objective analysis is just not within the gene pool of these folks. Even my own friends with more conservative views won't accept these indisputable analyses. If you are one who believes that lending money to Chrysler and GM with taxpayer dollars in an effort to save the domestic auto industry was wrong, then stop reading. In fact, Mitt Romney said this was a bad decision. Today, however, car sales in the United States from GM, Ford and Chrysler outpaced estimates. They are the best in three years. All three are hiring workers and most of the bailout money has either been repaid or converted to common stock that by all accounts should begin to see price appreciation. The economic connections that reach other industries as related to cars are quite expansive and these businesses will benefit as well. Tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs were saved. The Republican spin about Presidential ineptitude continues to reach the ears of the unconvertable, but the ears of the nation....that's a different story. Where are you Americans for reason and truth?
